The 41st Infantry Division

Home of the Jungleers

Book Reviews

The small town of Cowra in rural New South Wales, Australia, played host to a Prisoner of War camp that housed over 2000 Japanese and Italian POWs. The first week of August, 1944, witnessed a massive attempt to breakout of the camp by a large number of the Japanese. Voyage From Shame; The Cowra Breakout and Afterwards tells the story of this tragic event.

The Australia and the United States were allies during World War II but not all was necessarily well with the Aussie/Yank relationship. The Battle of Brisbane; Australians and the Yanks at War aptly explains how soldiers of these two armies squared-off in the streets of Brisbane on Thanksgiving Day, 1942.
